 About Us

How it all Started.

TailSpin Aviation started in 2005 selling a single product. An ornithopter kit I had designed called the ZXO-3. We gradually added other products and now stock over 350 different types of kits, tools and building supplies. We are constantly working to expand out inventory so we can provide you with more quality kits and supplies.

Dedication to Service.

At TailSpin Aviation we aim to provide our customers with the best service posable. When you order from us we want you to have the piece of mind that your order will be filled correctly and delivered quickly. Orders typically ship next day or sooner and the time in transit is usually 2-3 days. We also have some of the lowest shipping rates in the hobby business. Because I love companies that have fast and fair shipping and I know our customers do too.

Why Free Flight?

You may have noticed we specialize mainly in rubber powered free flight aircraft. That’s because we believe there’s something majestic in the simplicity of rubber powered flight and we believe that watching a stick and tissue model float silently through the air is just as captivating as watching a $10,000 turbine model tear up the sky.

The inexpensive and simplistic nature of free flight also makes it a great starting point for anyone interested in getting into model aviation. It’s also a great starting point for children and can lead to a lifelong interest in math and science.

Environmentally Friendly.

We believe in doing our part to preserve a clear blue sky for future generations of flyers. We reuse boxes when posable and recycle them when reuse in not a option. New boxes are Cradle to Cradle certified and fully recyclable. We reuse all packing material we receive from our suppliers and use overprints from the local newspaper for the remainder of our shipping needs.

We do not condone the use of styrofoam packing material. Because styrofoam will never break down or decompose and is not recyclable. If you ever receive a package from us with styrofoam in it it’s because we received some from a supplier and we are simply reusing it to delay it’s trip to the land fill. Encourage other companies you buy from to also say no to styrofoam packing.

More information on why not to use styrofoam packing, from Planet Green.

We also take time to cut down oversized boxes to prevent the use of excess packing material and to prevent wasted space in the postal system.

We also try to purchase supplies and inventory that were made in the U.S.A. where environmental guidelines are stricter than in some of the popular overseas
locations.
